A juvenile entertainment in aid of the funds of the Prince Edward Ha spital, took place on Easter Monday evening 18th inst., in the Town hall at George- town, for which we learn a handsome sum was realized. The little people were greeted on the occasion, by a large and appreciative audi- ance, who seemed delighted with the sfibrts of the youthful company. Their histriouie performance wiuld be no dis- credit to msturor age and experience in the art. Mlxnnsvuu, Pa., April 24.-— This town, which is situated about four miles from Pottaville, is greatly excited over . dreadful accident that occurred this after- uoon at Lytle colliery whereby 10 or 15 men are said to have lost their lives by the flooding of the mine with an immense body of water that burstthrough the old workings. It is said that the accident oc. . curred just about the time the shifts were changing. The exact number of men drowned and their names cannot be‘ ' given, but is said by the colliery ofiicials that eight men have met their death by the disaster. Among those names given out are Dublin, Bell and Buggy. The places where the accident occurred is a new operation that is being opened up on an immense scale by the Style Coal Company, the pirncipsl stock- holders of which are the Pennsylvania Railroad ofiicials and Scranton capitalists. The works are located on Primrose moun- tains, four miles northwest of Minersvills and saps an old colliery which has laid idle” for some years owing to large sc- cumulstion of water. About two years ago the present operators commenced the reopening of the tract Sud have spent many thousands dollars in pumping and opening up new slopes.
