The _ conspicuous feature of yes. terday s meeting of the Prenby. tex-ian General Assembly was the Foreign Mission meeting in the i evening, when the Canadian Missionaries who are home on furlough addressed the Assembly. St. Ma.tthew’s Church held one of the largest congregations that ever assembled within its walls and, although the meeting was prolonged, interest did not wane for a moment. The audience sat spell bound while these missionaries of the Gross narrated the story of heroic labors iif Trinidad and far-distant _For- mosa, Indore, Hooan and India.. The speakers were Rev. William Gauld, of _ Formosa, Bev. Dr. Morton, the veteran of Trinidad, Rev. F. H. Russel, India, Rev. W. H. Grant,_of Honan, and Rev. John Wilkie, of Indore. ‘\ One of the most interesting addresses of the evening was delivered by Rev. A. B. Winchester, of Victoria, IB. C., who tren- __chnntly reviewed the question of Chinese immigration in the West. The Assembly’s sessions in the forenoon and afternoon were devoted to routine business, the presentation of reports, a spirited discussion arising on the rerost of the Committee on the Aged and Infirm, Ministers’ Fund. The announcement was also made that the Century Fund was progressing Very successfully. The attendance at these two sessions was rather slim, as many of the Commiss- ioners were sight /seeing. This afternoon the members of the Assembly’ and their friends enjoyed a tripon-the ferry steamer Chebucto, and the visitors from the \Vest had an opportunity 'of inspecting the peerless faculties of the finest harbor on the Atlantic Coast. Sunday the Assemble will hold divine servicesf in St. Matthew’s Church. Rev. A. B. \Vinchester, of British Colum- bin, will be the morning and Rev. John Neal the evening preacher.
