Do you feel you have to watch your back, walk softly and carry a big stick? Well, if you feel like increasing your paranoia, Assassins is the movie for you (8 stars). Robert Rath is the best in the world. No, not at boxing. Killing. A gun-for-hire himself sometimes, Sylvester Stallone stars as Robert Rath, a professional assassin, hired to kill anybody and everybody. Haunted by the memory of killing his best friend fifteen years ago, Rath contemplates retirement after his next job. It pays 2 million dollars, and his marks are four Dutch buyers and a woman. The woman, code name Electra (Julianne Moore), holds a disk with information the Dutch buyers want, as does Rath’s contractor. Sounds easy enough, except that Rath now has competition on his jobs. 50D Enter Miguel Bain (Antonio Banderas) as the competition, and though he admires Rath, he also wants to be numero uno. To do that, he has to hit the buyers and the woman, get the disk, ru BY CHRISTOPHER MICHAUD CV | and kill Rath. No easy task when you’re dealing with the Demolition Man (yes, I know it’s another movie, relax). : More tricks appear. Rath ends up with the disk and the woman (no big surprise there), and is about to get paid 20 million dineros for the disk. Sounds good, but he also has Bain on his back, ready to pop a few holes into him as soon as he leaves the bank. More intrigue arises later in the movie, and it ends with a bang -- literally. Enjoy!. Good rentals: Corrina, Corrina (Ray Liotta and Whoopie Goldberg, a touching love story, way better than Whoopi and Ted Danson); Shawshank Redemption (1m a big fan of Morgan Freeman); Rudy (It’s been out for a while, but still a good movie). Soundtracks: The soundtrack to The Cure is a nice, relaxing soundtrack. From the movie about two friends who struggle together to find a cure for the other’s AIDS affliction. The movie is due out soon in rentals, October 23rd, I believe. ph
