A prominent farmer in Burt County yesterday discharged Johnson, alias Ander- son. ‘The latter picked e quarrel with the farmer and shot him dead. He then secured a Winchester rifle and a quanttiy of ammunition, mounted a horse and made off. ‘Lhe constable organized » posse and gave pursuit. The murderer opened fire and shot Peter Johnson dead, his brother Charles fatally, and killed and maimed a number of horses He finally teok refuge in a barn, and defended him- self all night avd to-day. It is expected that Senutor Edmunds’ resolutions on report of Judiciary Com- mittee, based on the refusal of the Execu- tive to furnish certain papers which the majority of the Senate consider to be pub- lic property, but which the President firmly holds to be personal and private, will be voted upon this week. Senator Frye will then make an attempt to bring up the fish- ery resolutions. He hopes to secure an opportunity for debate on Wednesday or Thuraday. Toronto News Toronto, March 21. Joe Eihot, a notorious forger now under arrest in New York, has been fully identi- fied as Walter Gardiner, who swindled banks here in 1883 out of $15,000 by means of forged drafts. C.. reports an un- known steamer, schooner rigged, ashore on Frying Pan Shoals, about eight miles off Cape Fear, but the sea was too rough to establish communication with her.
