Senate on Wednes- ‘day, Mr. Frye of Maine, effered a resolu- tion requesting the President to notify Great Briain of our desire to abrogate the ‘fisheries clanses of the Treaty of Washing- _tomn. Mr. Frye said that he was aware that this could not be done before July 1, 1882. but anthority ought to be given the |Peesident at once. He said that returns at Boston and Gloucester showed that Ameri- ean fishermen derived no benefit from the treaty. The advantage was all on the side of Great Britain.
