=Thursday February 18th 198 Report of the Vice President Communication Review Committee The general goal of cre- ating a VPC is to establish a much greater knowledge on and off campus regard- ing all aspects of the Stu- dent Union. The adminis- tration and faculty are vir- tually ignorant of our poli- cies and processes and con- sidering that Student Ser- vices is ultimately concerned with students, as we are, it is essential that a permanent liason be formed. The Committee has met and discussed the need for a VPC and the possible du- ties she/he might assume. the following recommenda- tions are a result of consider- ation of the Operations Man- ager Review Committee Re- port and through the Com- mittee’s own deliberations. Recommendations are: 1. That the VPC not necessarily be the Island Representative of CFS, and that this position be left open to any interested stu- dent or Executive member of the UPEI SU. 2. That*the following be put in the UPEI SU Consti- tution: Article XI Powers and Duties of the Executive Vice President Communica- tions shall: 1. Oversee and main- tain the Student Union Mini tion, his conduct was very pure. Promote active com- munication between the stu- dent body and the elected of- ficials, employees and volun- teers of the Student Union. 3. In conjunction with the President be responsible for communication with com- munity, provincial, national, and international organiza- tion and any other appropri- ate bodies. 4. Provide all campus communication media with consistent reports of the ac- tivities and endeavors of the Student Union (refer to VPC job description). 5. Serve as the direct leason with Student Services. 6. Have. co-signing au- thority on all cheques up to a designated amount (as set by the UPEI SU Finance By- law), with any other Execu- tive member or the General Manager (refer to the UPEI SU Personnel Policy) 7. Perform other duties as required. 3. That the Vice Pres- ident Communications- Job Description read as follows: The Vice President Communica- tions shall assume the follow- ing responsibilities: a. Maintain contact with Senior High Schools. ie. attend Career Days in fall (Oct.- Nov.) with Stu- dent Services and Extension Department, meet with Seniors at end of school year to inform in- coming students of activities of the Student Union just get them interested in getting involved!
