Miss MacDonald ln- jured her loot some years ago and was ordered to the hospital re- cently to have an operation per- formed. It is learned from the pastor of Little Flower Church that most of those who subscribed to the, Bishop's building fund last sum- mer have paid up well, which is good news for the parish. Many will learn with regret of the sudden passing of Mr. James Lund, at Mt. Stewart on January 23rd at the early age of 44 years, and the sincere sympathy of this community is being extended to his family. A house in this vicinity near the Bristol United Church that. has been vacant for two years has become a target for stone throw- ers. as all the windows have been broken and recently an attack has 'been made on the doors. it is learned from one of the hockey players that hockey here will be forgotten unless something is done to close ln' the open air rink built a few years back. Open rinks are a thing of the past. and a failure here owing to the chang- ing weather. This village is big enough and rich enough to have a good closed-in rink if everyone supported it and the right man- agement headed the drive. Right now the boys are holding their games in other rinks where most of the home fans just can't al- lend. -N. STERLING W. I Mrs. Blois MacEwen entertained the members of sterling W.I., Stanley Bridge, at her home for their January meeting. The presi- dent, Mrs. Elmer Fyfe, presided and the meeting opened by singing "O Canada" followed by the Creed in unison. There were sixteen mem- bers and two visitors present. The roll call was answered by a one minute talk on "Our Banquet". The minutes were read and approved and the secretary gave report of expenses for the banquet. The school committee report was given by Mrs C.A. Woolner. She also presented bills for radio cabinet and flags for the school. In the vis- izlng committee report Mrs. Ray Douglas reported boxes were back- ed for shut-ins at Christmas. Treats were given to the sick and money and flowers were given to patients in the hospital.
