A romantic story is being told of one of the members of Gilmore’s band, which has just returned from Europe. While they were in Berlin, and at one of their most crowded concerts, a lady sereamed “It is he,” and fainted. A German Countess, of great wealth and social distinction, had recognized her long absent son as a member of the American orchestra, whom she supposed to be dead. He had spent a fortune in dissipation, and as a last resort made his musical culture available, no one among his confreres suspecting his rank and former position. Too proud to write of his position to his family, they had given up the expectation of ever hearing from himagain. The band were playing “The invitation to dance,’ when this little scene occurred, and very soon papa—the Count (the name is’not given) led the wanderer to his mother and sister, who embraced him with emotional fondness and exclam- ations of joy. It is said that Gilmore has fost one of his cleverest musicians by this recognition. + —2-2 CuarcoaAL AND Lrie.—Permit us again to urge all breeders of poultry who wish healthy fowls, to be liberal in supplying their fowls with charcoal. Even if the fowls are not confined, but especially so if they are, charcoal unded up into fine bits or pieces about the size of a grain of corn, ora little finer, should be put around in small piles where the fowls can have easy access to it, and they will soon make use of it. The cost of charcoal is but a trifle, and where the distance from the town or city is so great as to prevent it from being readily obtained therefrom, the ashes from a wood stove may be sieved out, and small pieces of charret wood charcoal used in the yjlace of that made in the usual way. Rupocially during the spring and early summer months it is advisable to use charedat freely. Lime, too, is valuable in many ways. Thero never has been a time when the heal- ing of so many different diseases has Deen eaused by outward application as the present. It is an undisputed fact that over half of the entire population of the globe resort to the vse of ordinary plasters. 5 Dr. MELVIN’S CAPSICUM POROUS PLASTERS are acknowledged by all who have used them, to act quicker than any other plaster they ever before tried, and that one of these plasters will do more real service than a hundred of the ordinary kind. All other plasters are slow of action, and require to be worn continually to effect acure; but with these it is entirely dif- ferent: the instant ono is applied the patient will feel its effect. Physiciansin all ages have thoroughly tested and well know the effect of Ornpsieum ; it has always been more or less used as a medical agent for an outward application; but it is only of very recent date that its advan- tages in a porous plaster have been discovered. Being, however, convinced of the wonderful cures effeeted by DR. MELVIN’S CAPSICUM Porous PLASTERS, and their superiority over all other plasters, they now actually prescribe them, in their practice, for such diseases as rheumatism, pain in the side and back, and all such cases as have required the use of plasters or jiniment. After you have tried other plas- ters and liniments, and they have failed, and you want a certain cure, ask your druggist for R. MELVIN’s CAPSICUM POROUS PLASTER. You can hardly believe yourown convictions of its wonderful effects. Although powerful and uick in its action, you can rely on its safety or the most delicate person to wear, as it is free from lead and other poisonous material commonly used in the manufacture ef ordin- rf plasters, Se trial _ a pee uarantee of its merits, and one plaster v undreds to youbalellan : ug, Ask your druggist for Dr. MELVIN’s CAPSt- cuMmM Porous PLASTER, and take no other; or, on receipt of 25 cents for one, $1 for five, or $2 for a , they willbe mailed, post paid, to any address in the United States or Canadas.
