This is ex- plained by a correspondent of the London Times, who states that very few Bosnians ‘| have ever heard of the Berlin Congress or _\ its decisions, and knew nothing beyond the fact that foreigners have invaded their coun- try. He says that if the Austrians had first occupied the districts along the Save, where the population knew them, and where they were not opposed by a single shot, and then waited until the inland pop- ulations had fully understood the objects of the occupation by means of natives sent from the occupied territory into the interior, and from visitors from the latter to the for- mer, there would in all probability have been no opposition to the movement of the Austrian troops, —— 700 | Buy your Waltham Watches at and Other items. : Loeal : —_— a oh a Tow Ton Ternexcm’s Prairie Flower. A London police magistrate has sent a professional dog thief up for three months at hard labor, and recited the case of a lady of his acquaintance whose valuable dog was so often stolen that, between re- wards and advertisements, the cost of the animal was nearly $450. Trade is completely stagnant in Jamaica, and laborers cannot tind employmeut even at a shilling or ninepence aday. There is _| great poverty and want, and in some neigh- hoods estates have been partly abandoned. Kingston advices of the 5th say thata cyclone was evidently raging in the vicinity. From New York comes an account of a ballin the Bowery got up by the pick- pockets, burglars, and shoplitters of the cily. in order to fee counsel for one of their number now in jail on a charge of being a masked burglar. Five hundred tickets at fifty cents each were sold, an additional charge of 10 cents being levied on all the ‘¢ eentlemen” who had hats. The steamship Great LHasteri has, it is said, been purchased by a company, who intend using her as a_ cattle boat to ply be- tween Texas and London. She is now being fitted out at Milford Haven, and is to have new engines and boilers, manufac- tured by the Clyde Iron Works, at a cost of $500,000. Refrigerators will be built in her for the purpose of carrying fresh beef. It is estimated that she will carry 2,200 head of cattle and 3,000 head of mutton. Charles P. Stickney, the latest defaulter that Fall River has furnished, was one of the most popular and most implicitly trusted men in that city. He had been a member of the State Senate, and was looked upon as a future candidate for Con- eress. He lived in the most pretentious house in Fall River, and entertained in royal style. His fall has so affected him that he is now lying completely prostrated, with little prospect of recovery. An Astonishing Fact. A large proportion of the American peo ple are to-day dying from the effects of Dyspepsia or disordered liver. The result of these diseases upon the masses of in- telligent and valuable people is most alarm- ing, making life actually a burden instead of a pleasant existence of enjoyment and usefulness as it ought to be. There is no good reason for this, if you will only throw aside prejudice and skepticism, take the ad- vice of druggists and your friends, and try one bottle of Green’s August Flower. Your spoedy relief is certain. Millions of bottles of this medicine have been given away to try its virtues, with satisfactory results in every case. Yon can buy a sample bottle for 19 cents to try. Three doses will re- lieve the worst case. Positively sold by all druggists on the Western Continent. Insolvent Act of 1875, and Amending Acts. In the matter of Joun J. Frerciuer, an In- solvent.
