This course was organized by a select group of divers two years ago and has produced excellent results on Prince Edward Island Twenty-five people are now qualified as. full-fledged = skin- divers as a direct result of this school. The course is under the guidance of Avon Andrew. Char- lottetown. who holds tivesaving and skin and scuba instructor awards This vear's course is being conducted on Friday eve- ning at the Charlottetown YMCA pool “ . Men from all ovér ‘the Island made up the original 25 to re- ceive the award of scuba-diver. but most notable among these are volunteers from the Souris Fire Department. The fire de- partment buys its own equip- ment and men are trained in Charlottetown to work on any emergency that might occur in the busy port. Last vear. two bodies were recovered by these firemen in very deep waters course with four men _ being trained at present. The course is not for the poor swimmer, the tests are long and arduous.
