A drunken farmer drove his team imto the cattle guard, on the Grand Trunk Rail- way, near Brantford, Ont., on the night of the 25th and lay down on the roadside and went tosleep. A freight train came along about 11 o’clock, cut the horses to pieces and was thrown from the track. The engine rolling down the embankment, and lies | upside down, badly smashed with thetender on top. The first car ran down over the embankment and got into a position which prevented the rest of the train from follow- ing. ‘The train hands escaped by jumping, The loss is heavy, as all the cars and con- tents were more or less injured.
