An attempt was made to burn the driv- ing horse and stable of Mr. Y. McLean, Ont., one night last week. Coal oil had been poured on the front door of the building, and a piece of newspaper saturated with coal vil had been stuiled in between the twe parts of the door, which divided in the A hole about a foot piece of the paper, about an inch square, remained in the crack unburned. Fortun- ately, in sprinkling the oil on the door, the incendiary had evidently,in his hurry, miss- ed the spot where the fire was kindled, and in this way the fire had not dune its work as was evidently intended. The upper part of the building was filled with straw, and the lower part contained a horse and several vehicles. The empty bottle which had contained the coal oil was left behind. The couly reason that can be assigned for this outrage is an article in this week's Ex- positor severely condemning a similar out- rage perpetrated upon Mr. James Wanless, the police Magistrate for South Huron, a few evenings previous. sania Milani Fixe Lamb's wool underclothing at the Lon- don House. —_—~>——— New Cooking Prunes and Figs at Beer & Goff's. nov27 3i sini Larce stock of flannel shirts at the London House. icicle hill KsILLer’s Marmalade in bulk and 1 1b. pots at Beer & Golf's. nov27 3i , HOTEL ARRIVALS.
