A meeting was held in Mayfield
Hall on Wednesday evening, April
lst, under the auspices of the North-l
ern Farmers' Institute to consider
the advisability of the _Legislature
imposing a tax on dogs, for the bet-
ter protection of the sheep industry.
After considerable discussion, pro
and con, the ,dog is yet considered
by the majority of those present to
be a useful animal .when properly
trained and cared for, therefore the

ly necessary to recoup the owner,
when the persons \vho owns the dog.
