The-n, dear teacher, may your lingers never be cold in this air oi' oves wishing you a world of happiness dur- ing the New Year now with us, we remain, your devoted pupils. very interesting game of hockey was played at Fort Connaught, I-ialifax,on Thursday, Feb. 7th, between the "ln- vincibles” oi' the P.E.l.H.B., and n. team from that fort. The game was fast and clean, and u good exhibition of’ hockey ‘was displayed. It was played in three twenty-minute peri- ods. The first period opened with a rush by the P.E.I.’s towards the “Conn's" goal, and Nu. 1 was imme- diately scoredfor Ives. . Fast play continued but the “Conn’s” only man- aged to get one score in this period. and Ives making their score 4. The second period of the game was excit- ing, the Ives forwards kept the rub- ber all throughout the period dashing at the “‘Conn's" goal, making the score at the end of this period 7 to 2. The third period was a little one- sided. Ives keeping thc rubber in the “(‘.onn’s" territory nearly all the time, scoring 5 more goals' in quick succes- sion, and thus the game ended 12 to »2. A return game is to be played at Ives on Monday, and no doubt it will be a better game, as some of the "Conn’s" players were on pass ,on Thursday. Every man played a splen- did game, using excellent combina- tion work. The “Invincibles” with a little practice will be as good as any team thc Island can produce. The team is much strengthened by thc presence ot' Llcui.. Burke and Sapper Tibbot of the R.C.E. A meeting was held on Tuesday evening to appoint it committee. At this meeting Lleut.. Burke was elected manager, Corp. Murphy Captain, Sergt. W. Williams and Sergt. Schill as committee. No doubt these men will carry out their duties in a satisfactory manner. It is pleasing to note that the “lnvinc- ibles" last year in all the games they. played were never defeated, and no doubt they will prove themselves as good this year.
