Following a brief plea by defence counsel R.R. Bell, QC, the case was adjourned unitil Thursday, April 9 by Magistrate K.M. Martin. A city police constable testified that he found @ partially burnt liquor permit. made out in the name of thé accused scene of the fire at Kelly and McInnis on Great George portions of burnt shingles the witness identified them as " those he had taken from the burned area on the wall of the building. The constable said that on re- turning to the scene a _ second time he found some matches and a partialiy burned cigaret. A city press photographer identified several photos he had taken at the area at the request of Deputy Chief Sterns Webster. Eight other cases were on the docket that faced Magistrate Mar- tin. A Charlottetown man charg- ed with being drunk and disorder- ly was remanded until April 9. All remaining cases were per- sons charged with being drunk and incapable. Two city residents and one from Tryon were each fined $20 and costs or 10 days. Two others from the city drew 20- day jail terms.
