Fine ; not much ehange in temperature. The Accused on the Witness Stand. New York, April 20. Edwin Booth, the actor, has been stricken with paralysis, and is not expected to live. On the trial of Dr. Buchanan for wife poironing, yesterday, the accused testified on his own behalf. He said that he never gave his wife morphine or antrophine, and never prescribed for her after their mar riage. He stated that he was her physician before their marriage. Oa cross-examina- tion, Dr. Buchanan said that he saw Mrs. Sutherland about six times before he mar ried her, and declared that he loved her at that time and up te the time of her death. He denied knowledgo that she was keeper of a disorderly house when he met her His tes‘imony contained nothing of special importance, except that it was a complete contradiction of the criminal accusation agaiust him. —_—_ so -_ A Liberal Defection.
