The late Mr. Bernard was well known throughout the pro- vince, where he always took an ac- tive part in the public life of the place. He was an ardent sportsman and in hi5 youth drew rein on some splendid race horses. Fpr some years Mr. Bernard conducted what was known as the Bernard Hotel at Tignish, where he met a. large num- ber oi the travelling public and was always courteous and obliglng in his dealings with them. About five years ago the late Mr. Bernard dis- posed of his valuable property and went to live at the home o! his son, where he was affectionately cared for. On Tuesday, 14th inst, the funeral was held from the home oi his son, Mr. J. A. Bernard, to St. Simon and St. Judc’s Church, where a Solemn High Mass was celebrated by the Rev.
