The mill draws its timber from the company's leases in Wood Buffalo National Park on the Peace River. Logs averaging 90 feet in length and 32 inches in diameter are floated by \raft to the mill. The finished lumber is taken by truck over the portage and, loaded on barges for s h i p m e n t farther north. , ’ ' Logs are out into 32-foot lengths when they arrive at the mill, then lifted by power shovel into a 6%- acre storage pond. From the pond they are carried automatically into the mill itself where they are cut into desired lengths and widths, trimmed and planed. The mill, of all-steel construc tion, proides, its own power through utilization of sawmill wastes. Slabs, edrgings and saw- dust are fed «to a “hog” machine for conversion to fuel which oper- ates the steam turbine powers house adjacent to the sawmill.
