The Crimean War was her great opportunity. There, bmlifld by money donated by friends. she brought order out of chaos. On her return from the war, with the help of a few and age-inst the opposition of many of the medical profession. she founded the first trainln! school for nurses. Buch greet advances have been made in Medicine and Surgery since Florence Nlghtlngalek time, that 51w would fall lamentably on the present day Registered Nurse examinations, Just as the Fathers of Medicine would fall utterly on the Dominion Council examinations. However, this woman of foresight and action will remain forever an inspiration to all nurees. She gave dignity to her work; she raised the caring of the sick from a menial task to the status of an honourable profession. What l: a Profession? What 1s e. , fesslon?
