The shot has been extracted trom the leg, and the wounded man is doing well. -> Temerrance Rum.—Says the Chatham World: One of the most prominent of St. John’s prohibition advocates, a wealthy mer chant, recently received a consignment of fifty hogsheads of Demerara rum, forty over- proof, cheap and fiery, by one of his own He did not send it back, or pour it into the harbor, but handed it over to the liquor dealers for whom it was intended, pocketing his freight and commission like a publican and sinner.
