The annual report of the post of-
fice department of the United States
quotes stat-ist-ics of postal facilities ‘ in 
many countries. In the proportion of
the number of post oflices to population
two British colonies occupy the first
place in the world,New Zealand being
first and Carada second. .New Zea-
lland has one post otlice for every
5l0inhabitants,Canada one for every
53( people, New South Wales one for
every 647, Switzerland one for every
