Beriiy, Ont., Sept 9.—There was some sensational testimony in the tria! yesterday of the protest against the election of Lo:is J. Breithaupt, who defeated the Cunser- vative candidate, Dr. Lackner, at the bye- election. The first charges of corrupt practices taken up were those grouped about the name of Albert Bosasard, Berlin botel-keeper, It is isclaimed that he was the main duct through which flowed the greater part of the Government funds that were expended in connection with Mr. Breithupt’s election. Four witnesses, Wm Pollemski, Cheries Weroke, Henry Shactz, and Charles Boll corroborated each other in saying that In Bosaard’s hotel on the Saturday night before the election they saw Bossard, io conjunction with Tom Lewis, of London, & noted feeder of the “threshing machine,” baodling rolls of bills, purporting to amount to $20,000, They were told by Lewis that there was 30,000 more Govern- ment money bebind if it were necessary that it should be used. Each of the four swore to getting their eppropriate slice of the “boodle” that night, and sup- plementary moneys after the election. They are Berlin residents, and considered strong politically in their different sections, and their vote aud influence was paid fer ata comparatively high rate as such pay- ments go. A Letter Which Speaks for iteelf—A Con- vincing Proof that Dold’s Kidney Pills will Care Kidney Disease of Long Standing. Pictou, N. S., Sept 11.—There is no doubt in the minds of the p*ople of this town that Dodd’s Kidaey Pills area most wonderful medicise. When a man who has been in con- tinua! torment for thirty years, in spite ot all he could do for himself, or have done for him, is cured by six iae cf medieine which costs but fifty cents a box, it leaves no room for question as to the merits othe said medicine. But this was the case with Mr. James i'raser, of this town and the medicine that cured him was Doda’s Kid- ney Pille. Read his letter: “I have been troubled with Kidney Dis» ease for 30 years, complicated with Bron~ chial Trouble avd palpetation of the Heart. Last sutomer it got so bad 1 was forced to quit work. I was then recom- mended bya P. E. I, gentleman to use Dodd’s Kidney Pilis. I did so and felt relief in the first 24 hours. I used to pass blood, but this stopped immeliately on usiog the pills. They also stopped the palpitation of the heart. Iam _ now after using several boxes {better than I have been for 20 yeare, I am able to work every day,” whereas a few months agol could hardly stand alone. Lama well- known citizen of St fAadrew St. here, and am delighted to give this testimonial to Dodi’s Kidney Pills. I bave never tired recommending them, for they work like a charm. > © .« Loose clothes and downy cushions bring only a negative sort of comfort tothe woman who is suffering with some disease or derangement of the organs distinctly feminine. Someclothes and some poti-~ tions make the pain and the discomfort seem less. Perhaps the nerves are most affectee and thisin turn disturbs the digestion. Nothing will ever complet:ly relieve buta radical cure. The startof e0-called“female complaints” mar be a very slight thing indeed. It may be that jin the beginning some emall h:gienic measures would stop the trouble. Cer- tainly at this time, a little bit of the right medicine would stop ‘it. When the trouble becomes worse, it is harder to cre, but stillit can be cured. Dr, Pierce's Favorite Prescription will positively cure any troubleof thie character.
