The Porte in replying to the Ambassa- dors for av explanation of the last Turkish note, satisfactorily assured them that the convention with Montenegro meant simply a formal agreement between the military commanders in regard to the mode in which the cession of Dulcigno was to be effected. A despatch from Badsic, dated Oct 14, says: ‘‘ According to news received by the fleet from Cettinge, up to noon yester- day, not the slightest sign was shown of ceding Dulcigno. Itis generally believed here that the Sultan will not perform his promises, and that he only made them to gain time. ' UNITED STATES. New Yors, Oct. 15. Envelopes containing bills of exchange for cotton, worth about $60,000, were stolen on Monday from ,the post office box of Schufaacher & Krone. The bills had been sent to the New York tirm by Kauf- man & Runge, of Galveston, Texas. On Monday two of the bills were found with a boy on Wall Street. The detectives ascer- tained that he found a key in the box and took the bills home, where $50,000 were recovered. The boy was taken to the police headquarters. Troy, N. J., Oct. 15. At a Republican demonstration at John- sonville, last night, Charles Nutting, Mel- lie Welling, Charles Thomas, John Fay and a Frencliman were injured by an explosion of cannon. Nutting’s leg was shattered, Welling's left arm was torn to pieces and since amputated ; he will die. Thomas, aged eizht, had his left leg torn to pieces and will probably die; the others were slightly injured. Sr. Aveustine, Fla., Oct. 15.
