‘ X Page 10 PANTHER PRINTS Newfoundland Play Mirrors Island Concerns (Press Release) When Newfoundlanders Berni Stapleton and Amy House take to the stage at the Carrefour Theatre this Thursday, they will be dealing with issues all too familiar to Islanders. A Tidy Package isa play about the fishery crisis in Newfound- land, and how it affects the lives of two women who have lost their fish plant jobs because of it. Though the circumstances are somewhat different here on PEI, people in communities such as Souris where the fish plant burned down have been faced with the same kinds of problems, and the play deals with some of the more universal problems faced by the women in the fishery as well. A Tidy Package was a huge success in Newfoundland, garnering rave reviews and packing houses right across the prov- ince. Berni Stapleton, who stars in the play, was last seen in Charlottetown as a featured performer at the Ladies Room Festival in July. She is currently one of Newfoundland’s hottest writers and directors. A Tidy Package will be performed at the Carrefour Theatre on Thursday, November 23 at 8:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Confederation Center box office, or by calling 566-1267. the influenza uv logik s&s O ok Rev 1 ew bill bissett (Talonbooks) perhaps it iz not sew much the content, but the way the wurds ar prezentid and the simplissitee of langwaje. here yu ar forssed too reed wurd for wurd tu interprit aneething. not a book for thoze seeking an e-z reed: take time to swallo the dose of realitee and to appresheate a differunt stile. tri at leest a fu uv theze pomes with strong ottobiograffical roots and eventuallee the off-beet tekst will be kwite an inturesting eksperiunce. . . or not. -- Karen Rawlines C 4 M N Official Top 25 November 17, 1995 1 Various Artists Eat This 2 Grace Babies Lure 3 Various Artists Seven Soundtrack 4 The Monoxides Out of the Marsh 5 Super friendz Mock Up/Scale Down 6 Strawberry Beached 7 Supercar Supercar 8 Pursuit of Happiness where's the Bone 9 Various Artists Cinnamon Toast Compilation 10 Hayden Everything I Long For ll Rusty Fluke 12 Rebecca West Burners On 13. The money donated by UPEI, and other member schools, will be used to recreate the "heavens", which is a painted canopy to be placed over the stage of the theatre. If we can raise $500, our university will recieve a time capsule to be buried in the Globe’s stage.
