' MACKENZIE A feeling of sadness pervaded Borden and vicinity on Tuesday. Feb. 81h, when lt became known that Hector A. MacKenzle had succumbed following an attack of coronary thrombosis. Mr. MacKenzle. son of the fats Mr. and Mrs. John NlacKenzle, was born at Glen Valley, Prince Edward Island, in 1883. His early life was spent in South Granville, where he resided. untll at tlss age of seventeen years. he went to the United States. After spending some time at Portsmouth and Wolfeboro. New Hampshire, he came once agaln to hls former home due to the tragic death of hls mother and father tn a. rallroadacclden‘ at Breadalbane. In 1919 he came to Borden and accepted a. position as freight porter on the C. N. R... On June 20, 1923. he married Rhoda Ross of '1‘ryon, and untll hls un- timely passlng had slnce resided ln Borden. Being possessed of a high Christ- ian integrity and living a militant Christian llfe. he was one of the town's most highly respected rest- dents. He was a charter member of the Borden L.O.L. and strongly maintained the high (Jirlstlan virtues of the Order. ‘Those left to mourn his loss are hls widow; one son Gordon. student at. Acadia University, Wolf- vllle; one brother, John D. Mac- Kenzle, Borden; three sisters, Mrs. Graham Gamcster, Breadalbane; Mrs. Christie Swan, Rogers Road, Klttery, Maine; Mrs. Harold Glle. Woodlawn Avenue, Klttery. Maine. ‘Ilze funeral service, which was copiously attended. was conducted by Rev. Mr. Hicks of Tryon Baptist Church, on February 11. The hymns. favourites of the de- ceased, were “This World is not My Home," “Heavenly Sunshine," and “The Old Rugged Cross." Following the service, the remains were conveyed to the Tryon Presby- terian Cemetery where flnal tribute wizis paid to one wlio was dearly beloved by all. The burial took place in the family plot with Mr. Hicks in charge of the com- rnlttal service. The pallbearers were H, W, Bemard, P. J. MacInrils, Hamp- ton MacLean, Frank Qulgley, Myrlck MacKenzle, and John Mac- Kenzie, Jr. The funeral was under the capable direction ‘of Mr. Exisor Bowness, Summerslde. Later coming to Springfield she and her husband lived almost fifty happy married years untll separ- atcd by hls death flve years ego; loved and respected by numerous friends and acquaintances. Their home was ever a hospit- able one and all were welcomed there.
