In in: business the achievement of per-, fection was always his objective, In his community his friendly dis- position and high character was, unsurpassed. , Mr. Heckbert had enjoyed ap- parent good health until the time. he was fatally stricken and had been working steadily through one of his 5IUCIlO'S busiest seasons of. the year, while also completing construction and remodelling work: at his lovely new home. i Returning to his home in late. afternoon of Wedncscfay, June l6. from an assignment in which hei photographed the presentation of Blblcs. he suddenly suffered ii cerebral haemcrrliage and passed away a few hours later. i Born in Sunimerside in 1924. IIP spent most of his life here, and- in addition to his association with photographic organizations. was a member of the Summeraide Kins- man Club. and the Summersidc branch of the C.iiI8(Il."ill Lcizion. After graduation from Summer- Iidc High School he was employed at. Summerside and Halifax in the photo-engraving trade before op- Pnillg the De Luxe Photo Service in Summerside. With the begin- ning of World War II he enlisted in the Navy and served in active sea duty uii HM CS Bownianville and H.M.C.S. Oakville. In continuing his chosen career after the war he won top honors in his graduation class at a pho- Lography college in Toronto, On- Iilrln, and returned to Summersidc in 1947. and established the Edwin Heckbert Studio on Harvard Street. Left to mourn his loss are his IIICIOW, the former Bernadette Farmer oi Kinkora. and ioiir sons. Driniix. Cnirry. Gregory. and Brian. also his pareiils Mr and Mrs Earle Heckbext. a brother Ralph. and a sister Doris. all of summer- side. His funeral. which was one of the largest ever seen in Summer- s.de, was conducted by his pastorp Rev. C D. Matheson on Saturday. Junc 19, with a private service at the Bowness Funeral Home fol- lowed by service at 'ninity United Church at 2 p.m.. at which a very large number of relatives and friends gathered in sorrowing trib- ute to the loss of one so dearly loved and rcspected. and the pro- fusion of floral tributes added tes- timony to the esteem in which he was held by all who knew him.
