Surnmerside -S. l. t i3 New Houses , Under Construction Ai Summerside --Thirteen new houses with an estimated total vsiue of $68,300 are now under construction in Sum- mertide, according to the records in the town office of building per- mits ilsued. Permits for alterations applied for consls of three houses being repaired and one Warehouse bein reconstructed. In addition to this, of course, e number of dwel- iings are being built just outside the town limits for people now liv- ing in Summerside and who have their occupations in the town. This number of new houses will not substantially alleviate the boul- ing shortage in the town. Many of the R.C.A.F. personnel who have recently been posted to the Sum- merside station are living in sum- mer cottages and when fall comes they will be looking for homes in town, For over a year now it has been understood that a large num- ber of dwelling units were to be built near the airport by Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation but not even the tenders have been called for as yet.
