cont. pg.6 Dear WOrmi Even though I am -— quite happily, in fact —- one of those chauvinistic males that Miss Brammer has tried to warn.all the co—eds a— bout, I feel I must write some comment on her remarks. How shallow a relationship - indeed how shallow the per- son -- who refuses an outig because they must go out with a boyfriend or girlfr— iend. Suchxa relationship indicates a totally inward looking, interdependence, which stifles the growth of both partners. How much more "liberated" each person would be if the relationship could be a more free flowing one with eit- her partner developing on his or her own: yet both finding the other on a com- mon and mutual desire to be together. In such a relationship, the; question of bras, legs or false eyelashes would not even be considered serious- THE CADRE, TUES., FEB. 19, 1974 Page 7. l . g sincerely wish Miss Bra- mmer could enjoy this type of relationship so that she would not insult needlessly, those persons on and off H campus who do know what a male-female relationship Can, should and must be. Sincerely, Ham Dear Ham, How shallow you are! To possibly think that the male- female relationship is as liberated as it can be. Can't you realize that in the present capitalist sys- tem it is impossible for any individual to grow indepen- dently from another. All hu- man beings are put down but especially the female. It has been her role for years to be the home—maker while her husband is out fighting for the almighty dollar. There are very few instances where the female goes out into the world, doing her ' V . 3? thing and the husband stays at home to keep house. since the males are the bread—winners of the family and out making the decisions of the world they have tak- en the superior role, thus dominating the females. we are under their thumb since we have been led to believe that we are the weaker sex, incapable of meeting the te— nsion and hassle of the wo- rld, so we depend upon them for our security (or income). Unless we begin to realize that our relations are shale low and there must be more to life, it will never chan— ge. Believe it or not dear Ham, there are just those types of relationships going on. Not all are as "liberated" as you!! Gilean Brammer alias "the WOrm" ~P.S. You are contradicting yourself by saying you're chauvinistic but yet believe in a truly liberated relat- ionship. How is it really? L David Trambley Congratulations from the Cadre to J. David Trambley, the new holder of the un— official national record for uninterrupted broad— casting. J.D° went for 118 hours, starting a 8:15 a.m. Wednesday and finishing 6:15 a.m. Monday, covering the total period of the ’1974 Winter Carnival. This breaks the old record by 14 hours and added a special plus to "The Week Nobody Can Remember." J.D. and the staff of CSUR wish to thank the university staff, faculty and students who generously helped out dur— ing the marathon. The mana— gement of CSUR is hoping that this will be the first of a series of special eve— nts giving a new improved look to your Campus Stu- dent Union Radio. If Q5?
