Sec’y. h A good thing comes to us from the Irish capital, showing that the gallery wits have not died out entirely. There was a tremendous uproar in the upper regions of the then- tre, owing to the persistence of a gentleman in an elevated state, in making remarks that were not to the point, or of a highly critical character, also upon his determination to occupy a front seat, a seat in the second row, and one in the third, all to himself. At length a universal cry ofindigna- tion arose, and the suggestion to “chuck him over ” was carried 92cm. can. The hoisting process was beginning, let us hope with a view to striking terror into his soul, when a " gintleman ” at the side of the gallery, the “slips,” ex- claimed in stentorian tones, “ Boys, boys, don’t ye be extra- vagant, don’t do it now; pass him along here and let me economise him by dropping him on a fiddler and settling his business at the same time.” Good nature was restored and peace, everybody enjoying the joke but the fiddler, who, looking up in a fright, was hailed with three cheers.
