A CIRCULAR was received at the Mayor’s office, a few days ago, from the Mayor of Quebee, asking relief for the sufferers by the late Quebec fire. The matter will, no doubt, receive favorable consideration at the next meeting of Council. THe Quebec Chronicle states the hay erop ef some parts of that Prevince will be very light. The recent rains came too late to save the crop, as the grass had already been burned eut at the roots. Vegetable and roet creps are being greatly benetitted by the present wet weather. Mr. Archibald has lately held meetings in Trure, New Glasgow and Pictou, and has been suc- cessful in obtaining contributions to the Col- portage fund, which, for a number of years, had been largely supplemented from the Pub- lication Fund of the Society. As this cannot continue without endangering the interests of the organization, it is to be hoped that Chris- tians of every name in our town and through out the Island will do all in their power to help this work, which has been and still con tinues to be so beneficial to our people.
