THE CADRE ¢ 17 2005 Atlantic Book Festival Readings by John Smith and Others, April 27 The P.E.I. Writers’ Guild, in collaboration with the Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia, presents a round-robin of short readings by finalists in the 2005 Atlantic Book Festival Awards on Wednesday, April 27th, 7-9 p.m., at the UPEI Faculty Lounge. ; The readers include P.E.I.’s own first poet laureate, John Smith, whose latest collection of poetry, Fireflies in the Magnolia Grove, is shortlisted for a poetry award, and Islander Catherine Edward, who will read from her short- listed book, Brow Of Dawn: One Woman’s Journey with MS. As well, Beth Powning (The Hatbox Letters) and Genevieve Lehr (The Sorrowing House) will give 15-minute readings. ; Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
