Mr. Andrew Macheod at the advanced age of 95 years. Deceased was born in Ii-ishtown-the son of the late Kenneth and Margaret (Mac- Pherson) Macncod. He belonged to a family noted for their longevity. In I family of eight. almost. all 01 IWIY t.hem were spared to see more than four score years. some. in- cluding himself. reachi near the century mark. In eary life the late Mr. MacI.eod learned the car- penter trade. having served as an apprentice with the late Nathan Maclmriane of Summcrside. Later he acquired the farm adjoining the old home. where he successfully carried on the occupation of farm- ing during his life time. In recent years his son Heath took over the farm management-today the tin- est farm home in the neighbor- hood. Deceased was one of God's nobleman. endowed with a quiet. cheerful nature. he won and re- tained the esteem and conndence of a host of friends. A man of warm Christian friendship. highly respected by all classes and creeds. he possessed the quiet dignity of I true gentleman. in church and community life he has set a wor- thy exampie of citizenship. His house was one of genuine hospital- ity where friend and stranger alike were assured of a hearty welcome. Throughout his long and useful life he faithfully upheld the fine traditions of his ancestors. He was an elder in the Presby- terian Church at Long River for upwards of 50 years. Superintend- ent of the Irishtown Sunday School and also a teacher for many years and a loyal advocate of the tem- prrnnce cause. In politics he was always a staunch Liberal. His funeral was held on Easter Sunday. despite the impassable condition of the country roads for cars. a large number of sympath- izing friends gathered to pay a final respect to the departed. The service was conducted by his Pas- tor. Rev. D. A. Campbell. basing his remarks on the words of St. Paul tso suitable to tho occasionl "I have fought a good fight. I have kept the faith. I have finish- ed my course". Rev. Mr. Campbell spoke words of comfort and hope to the bereaved. Hymns sung by a mixed choir were: "The Lords My Shepherd". "Shall We Kenneth Maobeod presiding The floral tributes Mrs. at the organ. were beautiful. Deceased leaves to mourn his passing. one daughter. Emeline at home. whose faithful and loving care brought sunshine into the closing days of his life. and two sons. William P.. Charlottetown and Heath on the homestead. Five grand children and eleven great grand children. Also one brother George. Irishtown. and three sis- ters. Mrs. Alma Sheen. Tyne Val- ley; Mrs. Bnitbara Maccouszan and Mrs. Minnie Campbell. both of Kensington. His beloved wife pro- deccascti him in 1941. one bro- ther and two sisters passed away in recent years.
