Nov. 3— (CP)—A general downtrend among key is- sues on the New York markets had its repercussions on the Montreal Stock Exchange and Curb Market today. The downswing on United States markets was reported due to the election victory by the Democratic party. Today's trend was an about-turn of a general up- ward movement started Monday and continued Tuesday. Hardest hit on the local markets were papers and metals, which dropped as much as two points in spots. Trading in both mines and selected industrial: was active. Losses outnumbered gains two-to- 10 l-Tone in mines. Canadian Celenese, following an- nouncement that the common stock may be split on a four-to-one basis and declaration of a $1.75 dividend, jumped 2 1-4 points to 93 1-4.
