Pants, Aug. 15, The sentence imposed on Boulanger, Dillon and Rochefert by the Senate Court yesterday occasioned no excitement in this city, therefore the utmost quietness ha. prevailed. Republican journals are con vineed that public opinion will ratify the decree of the court. Conservative and Boulangist papers are sanguine that the general elections will show that the people do not approve of the verdict. It is alleged that M. Waddington, French Ambassador to England, has been instructed to sound the English Government on the question of extraditing Boulanger, Dillon and Roche- fort. Opening Letters. Lonpvon, Aug. 15. In the House of Commons this evening Sexton asked Home secretary Matthews if he had authorized the post office officials to open letters from America addressed to Parnell by him, or to open a letter from President Harrison to the Lord Mayor of Dublin. The Home Secretary replied that there was no reason to suppose that either letters addressed to Parnell or letters from President Harrison were opened in the post office. He had not authorised the opening of letters. If any were opened it was without the knowledge of the Home Oftice. Inquiry into the alleged opening of President Harrison's letter was proceeding. Fishing Licenses. Orrawa, Aug. 15. It is stated that the number of iicenses issued to American fishing vessels by the Dominion Government under the modus vivendi up to date this year is just double that of 1888. Licenses issued this season by agreement entered into with the Govern- ment of Newfoundland all terminate on the 8lst of December, while those issued last year run for twelve months from the date of issue.
