Look out for their advertisement to-morrow. oo A storm of thunder, lightning, hail and rain commenced about nine o'clock Wednesday evening, and continued till almost one this morning. The switchboard in the telephone office was thrown out of order for a time, and the telephone and telgraph wires were somewhat stiff. No other damage is as yet reported. At Tignish, the storm is said to have been very severe. 3 : DURING the squall this afternoon, just as we go to press, a boat containing two boys upset near the Three Tides and the oc- cupants were thrown into the water. They were picked up by the Heather Belle which was passin the scene of the accident en route to ‘jrwell and were taken on board. Several other boats were out at the time and fears are entertained for their safety. Toronto, Aug. 12. Yesterday afternoon Patrick Burns, coal dealer; Thomas C. Johnson, book-keeper, and Bernard McCarthy, collector, were arrested for conspiracy to defraud. Quarter- Master Sergeant Wanson, of the Infantry School, was also arrested later, and other arrests are to follow. Those arrested have givea bail.
