In the death of Benjamin Rogers of Fnirholm, which occurred at his re- sidence on Saturday morning last, Charlottetown has lost one of its foremost citizens. He was born in Wales in September 1836, and came to this Province with his parents in 1840. They settled at Bedeque and at eighteen years of age the deceased gentleman came to Charlottetown and entered the employ of the late T. W., Dodd. There his great industry and aptitude for business at once be- came apparent and success attended him. In 1859 he became a partner in this prosperous business under the well- known firm name of Dodd & Rogers. The business was a lucerative one and was carried on for thirty-three years when Mr. Dodd retired, his in- terest being purchased by Mr. Rogers. In 1904 the business was organized into a joint stock company known as the Rogers Hardware COIIIPMIY. Of which Mr. Rogers became President, which position he retained until his demise.
