He has held a similar Fel- lowship for several years in the American College of Surgeons, and since 1945 has been a member of the board of governors of the latter organization. which he joined in 1922. A meeting of the Nurses Alum- bae of the Prince Edward Island llospizal was held on Friday even- ing, November 26, at ihe Cunciall llome. There were twenty-two mem- bers present. Business arising fro-tn the minutes of the previous meet- ing was discussed and reports from various committees were read. It was decided to purchase one article to aid in the Student Nurses’ educational equipment and one for the Student Nurses‘ recreation fac- iiities, Blue Cross Hospital paid. One oi’ the aims of the Alumnae is to aid the training school for nurses and ways and means were discussed whereby the finances of the Alumnae could be increased. A committee was formcd to con- tact more graduates of the hospital, who it is hoped will join the Alum- nae. dues were Mr. Ivan Noonan, 24-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Austin Noonan. Albany, has been reported missing from the SS Sunprinte, since early Sunday morning, November 2i. his parents have been informed. The vessel was sailing between George- town, British Guiana and Port of Spain, Trinidad. Mr. Noonan was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy for three and a half years during the war seeing most of his action overseas. On receiving his dis- charge in i945 he joined the merchant marine performing con- illlllOLiS service since that time. Following is the text of the tele- gram received from Saguenay Terminals Ltd: "Mr. and Mrs. Austin Noorlan. Albany: “Deeply regret inform you that your son Ivan Noonan has been missing from on board our vessel SS Sunprince sailing between Georgetown. British Guiana and Port of Spain, Trinidad since 0415 hours Sunday. twenty first Novem- ber. Presumably lost overboard. Full details have riot been received hut will advise you of details as soon as possible. We extend to you our sincere sympathy in this very unfortunate loss." The tragedy has cast s deep gloom over Albany and surround- ing districts where the victim was a general favorite and heart-felt sympathy goes to the bereaved family in their loss. In addition to his parents Mr. Noonan is survived by four bro- thers and four sisters. The brothers are Tony. Layton, Norbert, Gerald and Pat while the sisters are Myrtle, Toronto; Eileen, Shirley and Elaine at home. On Monday afternoon, Nov. 22. the Charlottetown Council, Knighis of Columbus presented to the Public Library in this city, a. book entitled “War Services of Canad- ian Knights of Columbus. 11:39- 1947", telling of work both Ln C-an- lida and overseas.
