Towels it will! able patients are admitted to the P. E’ Isiand Hospital. Itsays: The hospital is acharitable institution, | supported very largely by public eubscrip- itions, and its accommodations are too limited fur the care of incurables ; in fact, they are even now ineufficient for the num- ber of curables. It may to sume appear rather hard that the class of patients above referred to are debarred from hospital benefits, but it must be borne in wind that the Prince Edward Islacd Hospital is not a hospital for incurables (and it is too bad that there is no such institution on the Island), but to fill the wards with such patients would bean injustice to the pub- lic who support the bespita!l, and to thore— such as fever patients, victims of accidents, and allothers known as curablee—who may be benefited by surgical and medicai skill; und it 1s uureasonable to expec more. No distinction of rank, position or wealth, continues the Journal, ismade n the admission of sufferers. The hospital is @ Cosmopolitan institution, s here rich and poor, high and low, Jew aud Gentile, are (unhesitatingly admitted, and given alike {the best medicaland surgical skili and the best nursing poseible, and hundreds have been restored to be: |lrh and strength by means ofthe great skill and care bestowed upon them by the kindly pbysi- cians and nurses of ihe Prince Edward Island Hospital. . —P +a — NOTES AND COMMENTS. —— —— — —The Pioneer and some other Libera! papers evidently feel the force of our teach ers condemnation of the goverpment; bu there is One important fact which tbey have failed to notice, viz, that an addition of $28,000 a year to the cost of education has been made by vur Liberal guverument through the daily average attendance of pupils at the public schools bas decreased ————— — —Halifax Herald: When Sir Wilfrid replied, as reported, “ Let us wait tillthe vote is counted,” did heknow that tbe vote-counting in Quebec would goon fora fortnight after September 29.b, with a continual increase against prohibition as the days went by?
