The poliminary trial of Michael Power,
Jr. for the murder of Harriet Wanna
_ ended ymterday in his di~mimaL He was
boweversent up to the Supreme Court for
aasaulton Sergeant Bradley on July 12th.

General stated that\t.he Crown did not
wantto be looked upon as unnecessarily
perooeuting the unfortunate young man.
l'bere was probably not enmclent evi-
dence for sending Power up to the
itiuproms Court on a charge of murder
but the Crown wished to hold him in
custody till the court met where he
might come before thajury in order that
they cou d inquire into his condition.
V Rrwer was then arraigned on a charge
of intli ting grisvlous bodily harm on on~
Peter Bradley in order to prevent the
arrest of one Michael Power the elder,on
July 12th. lellil. The prisoner was repre-
sented by J. J. Johnston.
Sergeant Bradley testiiled that he was
on duty July lith, IGB. Toe marsha had
told himn warrant was out for Michael
Power, Sr., who had recently retumed.
About noon word came of a disturbance
on Lower Queen stand he started down
with ollcer Taylor. Michael Power Su.

seeing Michael P0v\'er Jr, the prisoner on
any occasion.
Cross exnmined_by Mr. Johnston he
said he believed the wari-ant was signs-d
by the then Stipendiary. liounsel asked
'n to have it produced and .\rir.W¢-eks repried
‘that it would be. He did not remember
ishowing the ar-rant to Power.
Daniel J.Riley remembered the orcasicn
of the arres . He remembered a country
I constable assisting the police, and his ne-
ing attacked hy Michael Power, jr and
his (witness) assi~tance.

by Mr. 'Johnson the deposition made by
witness at the time was 'placed in bis
hands to refresh his memory.

Patrick Bourke had seen the fight and
Michael Power jr-running across the
street and hitting olicer Bradley and also
Taylor with a weapon, similar to the one `

head. Bradley was badly used up.
