DAILY AXAMINER, FHBRUAR wis Mr. Moody on Public Speaking. | —— | Mr. D. L. Moody is very fond of| talking to the boys of the schoola near | his home, sometimes on Bible subjects | and sometimes on other topics. Ad-| dressing a class once on public speaking | he made the following points: 1. Don’t talk too much. | 2. Don’t talk unless you are posted. Give the best vou have. 4. Don’t talk when people are asleep Wake some One man and you will hold the rest. Don’t try to show off your learn- ing. 6. Get hold of the most stupid man and you'll hold the rest. 7. Don’t try, but don’t be afraid, to make people laugh. Milk that slops one way will the other. Be natural, don’t try to be some one else. 9. Avoid cant and pulpit tones. 10. Don’t talk too long. A man in London, who preached until the people all left, said he though it was a_ pity to stop when there was anybody to hear. 11. Don’t hesitate to repeat what God uses. 12. Don’t keep on talking just be- cause you are holding the audience. Send them away hungry. 13. While people are gathering, use the time with song. 14. Shoot where people stand. As the old Quaker said to the burglar: “Friend, lam going to shoot where thee stands. Thee had better get out of the way. 15. Don’t gesture and move about too much, and don’t talk with your hands in your pockets. | P| | | ~~ ———e The Girl He Kissed. IT LOOKED SQUALLY FOR AWHILE, BUT THE YOUNG HUSBAND PULLED THROUGH. \ young lawyer, who has been re- cently married to a beautiful belle, was mate the victim of a malicious anopny- | mous letter that might have resulted sviously to his domestic happiness. It seems that the young man has made an evemy of a man who las an office so near that he can at times overlook his movements, A few days ago the young man’s bride received an anonymous | letter saying: “As new a groom es} your husband ought not to have e a young | lady call on him in his office, and be| ought not totake her in his arms and kiss her. W ednesday, 11.15 a. m.” The young wife was aimost heartbroken. She cried until her eyes was red, and when her lord came home upbejided him bitterly. She showed him the letter, and he didn’t haveany explana- tion but a denial, matters began to look very interesting around his home. He couida’t think who would tell such ¢ falsehood about him, and he started down town in a very moedy condition. As he sat in the corner of the car brood- ing over his trouble, an idea suddenly struck him. It had the sameeffect on him as if he had sat down on a pin. In an instant he was running at full speed homeward, while the pas- sengers in the car were congratu- lating themselves on their onar-| row escape from a dangerous lunatic. | Bursting into his wife's room he fairly danced with delight as he exclaimed: “Don’t youremember! You were in my office Wednesday morning, you were the young weman | kissed!” Peace now reigns, but he hada close call.—Louisville Post —~ee oo She Would not Swear or Kiss the Book.
