Mr. MacDonald was born at Maple Hill in Queen‘: COUMY where he spent most of his youth. Ho entered the business World and operated general stores ut Millvlew, Peakes Station and Mur- ray River. The name Captain Alex by which he was familiarly known originated from his connection with sailing vessels which he own- ed but. never captained. I. on May 24, 1873. she was the only daughter of Lawrence Mullally and Anna Broderick. After hcr marriage she lived in Alberton. P. E. I. and moved with her husband and fam- ily to Southport in 1912. She took great interest in the community, always willing to lend a helping hand. The funeral was held from her late residence at Southport to St. Dunstanb Basilica where Requiem High Mass was sung by the Rev. P F. McDonald who also officiated at the grave. The pallbearers were Wilbert Cahlll, Ambrose Duffy, Sheldon Smallwood, Charles Train- or, Owen McGuny, Joseph Burns. She is survived by her husband. two sons and two daughters - Lawrence in North Bedeque. Car- lyle at home. Priscilla. (Mrs. George Higgins. Summerside. P. 11.1.). and Adeline (Mrs. Fred DeCoste, Char- lottetown); also eight grand-chil- dren. Her only brother, Thomas pre- dcceued her, also six daughters -- Mlrtina, Nan, Mary Alice, Ethel, Maud, and Florence. May her soul, Rest in Peace. The death occurred in the Char- lottetown Hospital on December 20th. 1949, of John J. Campbell of Poplar Point in his 77th year. Mr. Campbell had been in ill health for the past year but was active until a week prior to his death. when his condition grew suddenly worse and it wu decided» to remove him to the Hospital where despite the best medical skill and tender nursing he peacefully massed away.
