H. M. S. RENOWN--It is to be
hoped that li. M. S. Renown will be
able to- come to tlharlottetown during
the visit of the Prince of Wales next
month. Should she come she will be
by long odds--the'-largest warship to
-visit-this port. The largest previous
war vessel to visit Charlottetown was
the battleship Dominion in 1007. The
llenown is a battle cruiser and is
described as one of the “n1y‘stery"
ships of the war. The llcnown and
lfeur other cruisers of the same type,
the Ilepulse, Glorious, Furious and
Courageous, were built in 1015. UII-
der the pre-war naval plans the Re-
nown was to have been of the itoy;.Ii
Sovereign class of super-dreudnollght
but construction 'on them was step-
ped, and the plans greatly altered af-
ter the beginning of the war. The

tons and carries a crew of 900 ofllc-
