Rev. S. J. Cann is visiting his
mother and sister at Pleasant Val-
ley. Mr. Conn for the past tive years
has htm pastor of the Second Bap-
tist C urch, East Providence, R. I.
Ha begins hisrpaatorate of the Marin
et St. Church, Amesbury, Mass., on
Sept. tirst. This is quita a large
and influential church and has 3
splendid equipment for progressive
work. The reverend gentleman will
spend the latter- part of his vacation
in Nova Scotia. '
A new departure is being inaugur-
ntad this year by the new Minister
of Militia, Colonel Sam Hughes by
tha holding of- military camps for
cadets, who are young soldiers of
the King between 12 and 18 years
ol age. It is expected that about
1000 boys in all will be present.
Prince Edward Island, or at least
Charlottetown, will be represented at
the camp which is to be held at
Aldershot, Kent County, N. S. West
Kent and Queen Square Schools will
send about fifty each. The camp
lasts from the 16th to the 21st of
August, the Government paying all
expenses and will aee that the cadets
are wall cared tor. The training will
consist ol physical and military ex-
ercises and is intended for the pur-_
pose of making better citizens for the
country. _
