At Surmmer- side the passenger takes the elegantly- ferniahe sd and fast-sailing steamer Nor- thumberland, owned by the Charlottetown Navigation Company. The steamer is commanded by Captain Alexander Cameron, well and favore.bly known to the travelliag public. Mr. Collings fills the position of steward most acceptably, the table spread by him being all that the most tastidious pneea desire. Mr. Ryan, the err purser, Mr. McCarthy, tbe mate, and the other officers are all thor- oughly competent and well fitted for their positions. From Point du Chene to St. Jobs the run is over the Intercolonial Railway, and from St. John to Vauceboro ‘sis Cacadian Pacific Railway furnishes the service. The cars are all comfortable and commodious,* and the roadbed is in the best of condition. Taking the Maine (Ceotral road at Vanceboro, the traveller is quie iy landed at Portlend after a com- fortable run. Here he comes within the parvi iew of the Boston and Maine road, and in afew hours he is in Boston. The service of both roads is excellent, the cars being very comfortable and the offic ials kine d aad painstaking *, For the benetit of passengers who do not wish tochange cars run to the “Hub,” a second duri ng the class car runs thorough from Point du Chene. This car is handsomely uphol- stered in plush, and is very comfortable. Parlor and sleeping cars run between St. John and Boston. On the way back to Charlottetown equally close connections may be made. ‘The traveller may leave 7 nt six o’clcck in the evening, and » landed in the railway depot at Char- hed town at a quarter after ten the follow- ing night, The scenery along the route of travel is very attractive, and in many in- stances really beautiful. To those who wish to make close connections and reach Boston or avywhere else along the route traversed by the railways above men- tioned, we unhesitating rly say take the ** Al] Rail Line ” and keep right abead. The trains move along swiftly and easily, and it would be difficult to improve upon the service furnished.
