SOCIAL EVENT.-Rev. and Mrs.
J. L. Lund of Wiiisioe. P. E. l. were
somewhat surprised when on Wednes-
day evenini: Jan. 19th. About forty of
their friends from the North end of the
Circuit gathered at the parsonage. A
very pleasant time was spent with
games, music and social cast. During
the evening refreshments ert served
from the well filled baskets which had
been brought by the friends. After
the supper was over short speeches,
which were much appreciated were
given by several of the gentlemen. The
company then united iii the singing of
"God be with you till we meet again"
The party then broke up but not before
considerable in the way oi necessities
for housekeeping had been given to
the minister and his family.
FARMERS‘iNST|TUTE. - The an-
nual meeting of the Orwell Cove
Farmers Institute took place in Or-
well Cove Hall on Dec. 23rd. The
meeting was called to ordcr by the
president, Mr. Jas. Morrisey. The
minutes of the previous meeting were
read by Mr. Jas. E. McDonald, Secre-
tary and adopted. it was moved and
seconded that a set dats, (thcthird
Tuesday in"'Dec.) be made to hold the
annual meeting of the Orwell Cove
Farmers Institute, carried unanimous-
ly. lt was also decided that members
and those wishing to become members
pay in the annual fee of $1.50 before
the 15th day of Feb., 1916. The fol-

GOOD YEARS WORK.- The New
Perth Dairying Company did a satis-
factory busiizcss last season. The
Patrons received an average of
$1.03%c por 100 lbs. milk and the
stock holders are being paid a divid-
end of 4 p. c. The Co., contributed $75
to the Red Cross Society. The average

The average cost of milk drawing was
10.81c per 100 lbs. The average per
cent of fat in milk was 3.614. The av-
erage Quantity of milk required to
make 1 lb cheese was 10.307 lb. At

nual examination oi’ Hampton School
was held on Friday, Jan. 14th. The
pupils were examined in tho differ-
ent subjects by Mi'. McLeod, Princi-
pal of Victoria School, and Mr. La-
mont, Principal of Crapaud School;
also Miss Inman, of Augustine Cove,
Miss Marion McQuarrio, of Argyle
Sliurc; Miss Miuiiio Sproul,, of

loc. A large numlici' of tho parents
were present, and cxprcssd them-
selves as highly satisiicl with the
way in which tho scholars acquitted

work on the part of the teacher, Mr.
Lorne Lea, who at Christmas, was
presented with a beautiful fountain

by a pair of Prince Edward lslaiid
skins. The St. Louis Globe Demo-
crat. reporting the sale, says “A single
pair of Silver Fox skins sold yesterday
for $2350. The pair came from
Prince Edward Island and was bought
by Mr. Wolfson. New York."

liam Ryan of Cardigan Bridge arriv-

A' COURT MARTIAL- One man of
the 105th Battalion, who in disobedi-
ence of orders acted as a. soldier
should not, was tried by Regimental
Court Martial on the 18th and sent-
enced to 42 days detention. The pro-l
mulgation of the sentence took place
just prior to thc presentation of thc
Field Kitchen in thc presence ot' "A"
and "B" Co’s., 105th Battalion. it was
the first timc it was necessary to cn-
force such a. sentence and it is the
hope of the commanding oillcer that it
will be the last.

ARRESTED IN CHARLOTTE-

from Cliatliam yesterday that the chief
of police in that town had placed uu-

they located in Charlottetowii, on thc
charge of blganiy. and the prisoner is
being held awaiting the arrival of an
oillcer i'roiu St. John, who is 0 con-
duct. him back to this city for trial. As
nearly as can be learned, Richardson
is a fairly well to do farmer who had
resided at Notre Dame de ls. Rlvlcr de
Portage. lt was on March 26th. 1912.
that he was married to Marie Jeanne
Savoie, and the ceremony was per-
formed by Rev. Theoplle Hachl. of
Tracadie_ Richardson resided with his
wife for some time until he took a
liking for Miss Fanny Venlot of his
home place. and coming 'to St. John
was married to her, giving his name
as Nicholas Richardson. This second
marriage was performed on August
16th last. The news of Riciiardson's
crime soon became known and Rev. J.
S. Robicliaud, of Portage River, N. ll.,
who is the priest In charge of that
parish, took a hand in the matter and
was instrumental in having.a warrant.

Kensington Hall, the Rev. R. G. Ful-
ton preaiding. The object of the so-
cial was to purchase a piano for use in

was carried through which was much

-MOVING FROLIC. - A vcry suc-
cessful liaullng frolic was hcld on Fri-
day last, when a fair sized house was
hauled all the way from Cape Eg-
mond to Abrani’s Village, thc distance
by ice being about four miles. At
hall’ past clcvcn the house made ii
start and at one o'clock it was on thc
spot. lt was feared by some that the
ice was not in zi ilt condition to bear
thc strain. but though it somcilmcs
did bend dowiig considerably thc house
drawn by lliteains was hurriedly tak-
enlovcr. Mr. Edbilbert Poirier had
taken charge of this haul, and ,as
had been anticipated, made a success
of it. The owner of thc house wishes
to extend to all those who supplied
teams or in any way hclpcd the thing
along, his most heartfelt thanks, also
to the people of Cape Egmond who
so generously gave a helping hand.
Most of the teams were from Abram’s
Village with the exception of one from
Cape Egniond. two from Maximville
