The following is the report of the president, Mr. Hubiey: Christian friends- Once again I consider it a real honor and a privilege to make my fifth annual report of the local branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society. The Bible Sociei was started In 1804 by men o regarded the Bible as a priceless treasure and who want- ed tdshare that treasure with all mankind. In 1954 the British and Foreign Bible Society will cele- brate its 150th anniversary. A primary aim of the third Jubilee is to call all nations to the Bible. This society, down through the years, has circulated I-Ioly Scrip- ture in over eight hundred lan- guages, nad each year ten or 'more new languages are added to this ever growing list of tram- liiflons. Missionaries of every de- nomination have depended and still depend on it for their sup- plies of Scripture. You and I should be very grateful to be so fortunate to live in a land where abundance abounds for all the necessities of life. We then should accept the responsibility of giving more generously to swell the funds required to supply ih! Bible: in countries that have been ravished by wars. We can make no better investment nor can we share in a more human- itarian need than that which lup- pliea the Bible to the needy peo- pla' ofuthe .world in their own particular language.
