SDU Split In Hoop Games The Saint Dunstan's University basketball team came out of Hall- fax with a win and a draw over the weekend in games against Saint Mary's University and the Stadacona Sailors. The games. were the first of the season for the young and lnex perienced Saints and the local scholars gave a splendidgsccount of themselves against the bigger Nova Scotla teams. Saint Mary's won Saturday night's game played in the Saint Mary's University Gymnasium by a 51-44 score. On Sunday afternoon the Saints edged Stadacona 52-51 by scoring a basket in the last minute of play. Playing with almost an entirely new team from that which wore the Red and White colors a year ago, the Saints surprized even their most ardent routers during the opening minutes of Saturday's L':imc against Saint Mary's. They raced into an early lead and maintained the lead all during the first quarter The Santamarians came on fast during the second quarter to go out front and stayed there although hard pushed by the local team. Early in the second half the Saints lost the services of John "Honda" Kelly. Bill Farmer and Peter McGonnell via the foul route. However they bounced right back and led by big Eugene Lake cut down the Santsmsrians lead to only three Points near the end of the final quarter. John Kelly was the Saints high scorer followed by Gene Lake. The Saints lead front the opening whistle until the start of the fourth quarter against Stad on Sunday.
