It is widely known as one of the healthiest cities in Canada. It has two hospitals, many churches ‘and a large and elegant new Opera House. l also has several fine public buildings and a market which is one of the chief sources ofthe citizens’ pride. It has one of the largest and best equipped pork-packing establishments in the Dominion. On its west side is Victoria Park-a favorite summer resort-while on the east are the magnificent new Exhibition Buildings and Driving Park. Chief among its public squares is Queen Square in the centre of the city, beauti- fully laid out with blooming plants of every description, fountains, and well arranged walks. and enlivened with a band of music during the summer even- ings. The rural scenery in the vicinity of Charlottetown is charmin and low prices. Boats can also be liired,and steamers run regularly on_the baysand sions. The principal hotels are Davies, Queen, and Revere. Summerside has about 4000 inhab- itants. It is situated on beautiful Be- deqne Bay. It has the largest and finest departmental store in the Maritime Pro- vinces,besides having other large retail stores.
