Miss Howie is the daughter of a retired Methodist minister, the Rev.` Mr. Howie, of Shediac, and she has been laboring in Japan as a missionary, under the auspices of the Women's Missionary Society of the Canadian Methodist Chnl/ch, since 1900. She is now home on furlough, her second visit to her native land since she went out to the East to further the evangelising work of the church; her first fur- lough being in 1905.
