Livestock MONTREAL, Sept. 30 -(CP) — There were 821 cattle, 715 sheep and lambs, 1.018 hogs and 461 cal- ves for sale on Montreal livestock markets today. The cattle trading was slow. Oth- er kinds of livestock were firm. A large percentage of the cattle held over were common to fair quality steers and these were very slow sellers. The early sales made were mosty cows and bulls. Butch- er cows were $4.50 to $7 tops 87-35. and common butchers $4.50 to $5.25 Canners and cutters $3 to $4.25. Good butcher bulls $6 to $7 and common bulla 84.50 to $5.75. Calves were firm at $9 to $18 for veais with one calf at $13-50- Drinkers were $7 to $8.50 and gras- sers were $5.50 to $7 mostly $6 to $8.50.
